Mitchell Blutt, MD, is the founder and chief executive officer of Consonance Capital, a health care investment firm based in New York City. Dr. Mitchell Blutt also serves on the Dean’s Council of Weill Cornell Medical College.

Through its Global Health Education program, Weill Cornell Medical College gives students a chance to expand their perspectives on health care and improve health infrastructure in countries across the world. In Haiti, Weill Cornell played an integral role in the creation of Groupe Haitien d’Etude du Sarcome de Kaposi et des Infections Opportunistes (GHESKIO).

Dedicated to providing clinical services in HIV/AIDS and related diseases, GHESKIO welcomes approximately 100,000 patients every year. For health workers, the program provides short- and long-term training intended to improve local treatment of infectious diseases and help educate communities on how to control their spread. In addition to clinical service and training, GHESKIO conducts large clinical research trials on the epidemiology, risk factors, and history of HIV/AIDS.
